Purpose

WellCoat AT A130 Synthetic Thickener is used as a rheology modifier in the manufacture of various aqueous-based paintwork materials. Due to the presence of hydrophobic groups, a mesh structure with hydrophobic domains is formed when interacting with water, providing high-quality interaction with pigments and hydrophobic binders. This interaction allows you to effectively adjust the viscosity of the paintwork materials, increasing resistance to influxes. The product is non-toxic and highly resistant to bacterial action. The product provides greater dilution of the system at high shear rates, for example when applied by brush. WellCoat AT A130 gives the system high pseudoplasticity, which improves the performance of paints and primers with strong thixotropic properties. WellCoat AT A130 prevents delamination and settling of the components of the mixture, maintaining the stability of the paintwork materials during storage.

Recommendations to application

For the best introduction of WellCoat AT A130 into the system, it is recommended to dilute one to three parts of water. Optimal thickening is achieved in alkaline conditions (pH = 7-10). The recommended dosage is 0.3-1.5% by weight of the composition, depending on the type of binders, fillers and dispersants used and should be determined by laboratory tests. WellCoat AT A130 must be stored in closed containers, avoiding exposure to low temperatures, the optimal temperature range is from +5 to 40 °C. During storage, a film may form on the surface of the product due to evaporation of water. This phenomenon does not affect the functionality of the product, the film can be removed by filtration. Salts of some metals may cause turbidity of highly concentrated WellCoat AT A130 solutions.
