WellCoat AT P160

Purpose

WellCoat AT P160 is used as a rheology modifier in the manufacture of various water-based paintwork materials. Due to the formation of a mesh structure, the product provides optimal thickening and preservation of shine, contributing to the formation of an even smooth coating that is resistant to abrasion and moisture. WellCoat AT P160 can be used in conjunction with natural and other synthetic (acrylic and polyurethane) thickeners to improve fluidity, alignment, and reduce splashing. WellCoat AT P160 synthetic thickener is free of toxic organic solvents and alkylphenoxyethoxylates (APEO). The product is highly resistant to bacterial action, stable in a wide pH range.

Recommendations to application

If surfactants and water-insoluble co-solvents are added to the system it may affect the thickening properties of WellCoat AT P160 and lead to a decrease in dynamic viscosity. In order to check compatibility with the various components of the water emulsion system additional tests are required. For better dispersion, predilution of the thickener with water/co-solvents present in the composition of the paintwork materials is recommended. The recommended concentration of WellCoat AT P160 is 0.2-2.0 % of the total mass of the system, the optimal concentration depends on the requirements for the system and is determined by laboratory tests. Please contact Himprom representatives in order to choose the optimal concentration. WellCoat AT P160 must be stored in closed containers at temperatures from +5 °C to +35 °C, avoiding exposure to low temperatures, strong heat and direct sunlight. If the storage conditions are violated, irreversible precipitation of the polymer and loss of efficiency are possible.
